
The
BBC Jade arrived in Duluth on September 8,
2011 with a cargo of wind turbine parts loaded in Aarhus, Denmark by
Siemens Wind Power. The shipment included 15 nacelles, 16 power units,
15 radiators and 160 containers. In the picture above, the third of the
15 nacelles was just discharged from the ship using both gantry cranes.
One of the 30 nacelles loaded onto the Kurt Paul in Denmark is discharged onto a waiting
trailor on Wednesday afternoon, May 25, 2011. Thirty hubs, 75 power units
and 155 containers were also discharged from the ship.
The
ocean going heavy lift ship
Tracer arrived in Duluth on Friday, November 5th, 2010.
The Dutch flagged ship brought equipment that was discharged at the
Warehouse directly onto railcars for the trip to the final destination
in Lethbridge, Alberta. Included were two very heavy transformers that
were discharged onto special railcars. Above, the train departed
Duluth on November 9, 2010. The first to be pulled out
of the ship's cargo hold is seen just below.


A large generator built for Alstom Power in Poland and destined for
Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Brookings, South Dakota was
discharged from the Beluga Frequency on Sunday, October 17, 2010. Above, it is
slowly guided into position on a special 16-axle rail car from Kasgro.
Below and right, a large piece was discharged onto a Perkins Motor
Transport (Northfield, Minnesota) trailer on Saturday.


On October 12. 2010, 24 Nacelles, loaded into the Sunflower
E in the port of Vigo, Spain, were discharged at the
Warehouse. This is the first one to be taken off. They will eventually
go Chandler, Minnesota.
