The cargo is a very special hot-rolled, pickled and oiled steel that is manufactured by Francosteel (Usinor) in Fos Sur Mer, France. The consignee is Ryerson Coil Processing, Minneapolis, MN.
The M/V Lake Charles is operated by FedNav, Montreal, and was chartered for this trip by Riis Transport, Fos Sur Mer, France. Ship's agents in Duluth were Federal Marine Terminals and Guthrie-Hubner. Francosteel and Ryerson Coil Processing (formerly Keelor Steel & Aluminum and Select Metals) have been long term, loyal customers to many of the ports on the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes, including Duluth, MN.
