Whether for woodpulp and paper, wind turbine components, machinery or oil extraction equipment for the Alberta Oil Sands, the Port of Duluth is at the center of numerous highway and railway corridors providing a critical link between water and land transportation.  Highway corridors connect our facility north into Canada, west toward North and South Dakota, south toward Iowa, and southeast into Wisconsin and Illinois.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, St. Louis County and the City of Duluth have been cooperative and progressive in permitting extra-dimensional loads and limiting curfew hours to ensure efficient movement of cargo.  From a rail perspective, four Class I Railroads not only serve the region, but have direct access to Lake Superior Warehousing at the Port of Duluth.  The BNSF, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads all provide competitive connections for customers and offer the largest dimensional shipping envelopes to the interior of North America from marine transportation.
